Overview

Bringing together the visual storytelling talents of eight individual illustrators—Agustín Comotto, Marta Gómez-Pintado, Ana Juan, Alicia Martínez, Elena Odriozola, Luis Scafati, Noemí Villamuza, and Javier Zabala—this brief collection gathers three of the most iconic renditions of the classic fairy tale: that of the Brothers Grimm, that of Perrault, and that of Ludwig Tieck. The story of a little girl's delightful trip to her grandmother's house that turns into an encounter with the Big Bad Wolf is approached through various tones and drawing styles—some playful and others haunting—in this unique compilation.

Hermanos Grimm (The Brothers Grimm) were popular German storytellers in the 19th century. They are credited with popularizing such classic fairy tales as Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Charles Perrault was a 17th-century French author noted for his numerous children's stories, many of which have been made into operas, ballets, plays, musicals, and films. Ludwig Tieck was a German poet, translator, editor, novelist, and critic who was one of the founding fathers of the Romantic movement of the late 18th- and early 19th-centuries.
