After-Image

This posthumous collection of poetry displays poet Dennis Scott's acute observation of the rituals and interactions between people, as well as the resolute integrity of his Caribbean heritage. Particularly poignant poems allude to his own coming death, expressing satisfaction in a life well-lived and showing vibrant courage.

Dennis Scott was a teacher, poet, playwright, actor, dancer in the Jamaican National Dance Theatre, and editor of Caribbean Quarterly. He is the author of several poetry collections, including Dreadwalk, Strategies, and Uncle Time. His plays include Terminus, Dog, and Echo in the Bone. Mervyn Morris is a friend of the author and a poet.
