Libro formado por nueve relatos de intenso trasfondo autobiográfico, inmediatamente posterior a «El gran Gatsby». Al mundo dinámico de los jóvenes emprendedores que forman la clase de los nuevos ricos se opone el pequeño mundo antiguo de las grandes fortunas, de costumbres arraigadas y decadentes, de prejuicios y frivolidad. En el inevitable choque entre la fascinación por el pedigrí social y el trabajo productivo aparecen estos jóvenes tristes, estos niños ricos propensos a la fragilidad, los amores traicionados, el desequilibrio psíquico, el vacío existencial.  This book was written after an intense autobiographical account that immediately followed The Great Gatsby. A new generation of money emerged, and it was met with resistance by old money and vast fortunes. New money turned its nose up at antiquated customs of prejudice and frivolousness. There was an inevitable clash between a social pedigree and the satisfaction of earning your fortune. In the midst of it all, the rich youth was tangled in a web of traditional relationships, fragility, an unbalanced psyche and the existential void. These young men and women became lost in inescapable sorrows.

Author Biography

Francis Scott Fitzgerald (St. Paul, Minnesota, 1896-Hollywood, California, 1940) estudió en Universidad de Princeton, se alistó en el ejército durante la Primera Guerra Mundial y publicó su primera novela, A este lado del paraíso, en 1920. Ese mismo año se casó con Zelda Sayre, y durante la década siguiente la pareja repartió su tiempo entre Nueva York, París y la Riviera. Fitzgerald fue una voz literaria nueva de gran calado, y entre sus obras maestras se cuentan novelas como El gran Gatsby y Suave es la noche. Murió a los cuarenta y cuatro años de un ataque al corazón en Los Ángeles.

 Francis Scott Fitzgerald was born in St. Paul Minnesota in 1986, and died in Hollywood, CA in 1940. He attended Princeton University and joined the army during WWI. In 1920, he published his first novel, This Side of Paradise. He married Zelda Sayre that same year. The couple lived between New York and the French Riviera for the first 10 years of their marriage. Fitzgerald has a renowned literary presence; his most notable works include The Great Gatsby and Smooth is the Night. He died young at the age of forty-four in Los Angeles.
