CHICAGO – Independent Publishers Group (IPG), the last remaining independent book distributor of significant size in North America, is pleased to announce the promotion of Tim McCall to Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
McCall’s career in publishing has taken him across the industry, from twenty-one years at Penguin, where he became VP, Online Sales & Marketing, Digital Sales, to stints at Dover, Melville House, and Baker & Taylor Publisher Services. His experience selling books extends across all formats, all categories, and all channels. After joining IPG in December 2023 as VP of Sales, McCall has developed and executed dynamic new sales strategies, including specialized showcases for literary and Spanish-language publishers to connect directly with buyers and booksellers. In his expanded role, he now oversees a consolidated sales and marketing team.
“His new initiatives and overall guidance of the sales team have made Tim an incredible asset to IPG,” said Joe Matthews, CEO of IPG. “With the marketing team now under his wing, I’m excited to see how we can further improve our services for publishers across our various programs, from Spanish-language to Christian to academic and professional.”
“The vast IPG publisher catalog is rich with content in all publishing categories, offering a full spectrum of entertaining and educational content for readers of all ages,” said Tim McCall. “It’s been a privilege to work alongside stellar sales and marketing teams, bursting with creative energy and united in a fierce and fearless passion for independent publishing. Bringing the two teams together feels natural and will help us champion dynamic entrepreneurial partnerships with our publishers, booksellers, and the media. I’m excited and honored.”
###
Founded in 1971, IPG was the first organization specifically created for the purpose of marketing titles from independent presses to the book trade. Today, IPG’s wide reach into the book market includes distribution of both print and e-books from a wide array of publishers, digital printing, and traditional publishing. With consistent growth year over year, IPG’s success has come from supporting and encouraging the growth of its publishing partners in the United States and worldwide. IPG was acquired by Chicago Review Press in 1987, and this acquisition formed the parent company Chicago Review Press, Inc., which now owns Chicago-based indie publishers Chicago Review Press and Triumph Books.
