The failure of the Gallipoli campaign was instantly blamed on a great untruth—that the War Office was unprepared. Author Biography

He is the author of Mapping the First World War, Rats Alley: Trench Names of the Western Front, and several other titles. Peter Doyle is a geologist who is expert in the role of terrain in battle. He is the author of many books, including The First World War in 100 Objects.
