Overview

In this story completely appropriate for the digital age, the creator of a blog—a Chilean author living in Barcelona—initiates a series of conversations with her readers about the process of writing a novel and its corresponding challenges and minutiae. At first, the comments the blogger receives on her post are witty and intelligent and of great help to her as she sets about writing her novel. As time goes on, though, a fundamental problem emerges: each commenter begins to write about his own issues and problems, and the forum soon devolves into a series of obstinate and ill-tempered monologues. An original and creative examination of the isolation, loneliness, and lack of communication that characterizes so much of modern living, this novel serves as a cautionary tale of the danger of living a life overly influenced by machines. En una historia completamente apropiada para la edad digital, la autora de un blog—una escritora chilena viviendo en Barcelona—inicia una serie de conversaciones con sus lectores sobre el proceso de escribir una novela y sus desafíos y minucias. Al principio las conversaciones, teñidas de humor y de consideraciones inteligentes y acertadas sobre la escritura, ayudan a la bloguera protagonista. Poco a poco, sin embargo, aparece un problema fundamental: cada uno de los blogueros participantes empieza a plantear sus propios asuntos y finalmente el blog se convierte en una serie de monólogos obcecados malhumorados. Un examen original y creativo del aislamiento, la soledad y la incomunicación que caracteriza tanta de la vida moderna, esta novela sirve como una advertencia contra los peligros de vivir una vida demasiada mediatizada por las máquinas.
