Overview

The life of protagonist Dan Ruttle is reconstructed through scenes from his life in Ireland: his time in Catholic school, his brother's illness, his infatuation for Olivia. The past and present are interwoven in these pages and Aidan Higgins crafts a portrait of himself, but also of his country, in the years surrounding the Second World War.

Author Biography

Aidan Higgins is an esteemed Irish novelist. His first novel, Langrishe, Go Down, was awarded the James Tait Black Memorial Prize. He is also the author of Bornholm Night-Ferry, A Bestiary, and several other books.
