Ragged Bears

Ragged Bears was founded by Charles Shirley in the mid 1980s. Before this he had worked for Methuen for many years and was involved with the publishing of AA Milne’s & Ernest Shepherd’s Winnie the Pooh, Hergé’s Adventures of Tintin, Dick Bruna’s Miffy, and de Brunhoff’s Babar the Elephant, as well as books by Norman Thelwell and many other much loved children’s titles. With Ragged Bears, he pioneered a marketing and distribution method for independent publishers in the UK, and also offered representation for independent foreign publishers within the UK. Ragged Bears continues to be family run and we are committed to sourcing and producing high quality children’s books from around the world.
