CHICAGO, IL – Independent Publishers Group (IPG) is pleased to announce that it has signed a sales and distribution agreement with Prakash Books India and its imprints Fingerprint Publishing and Wonder House Books.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to represent such a creative, innovative and quality voice in publishing,” said Alex Kampmann, Vice President of Business Development at IPG. “Through this exciting new partnership, we expect to increase Prakash’s worldwide marketplace reach, getting more Fingerprint and Wonder House books into the hands of more readers.”

Prakash Books was founded in 1948, selling and distributing international titles to its Indian readership. In the 1970s, the company began publishing coffee table, large-format and travel books. Since then, Prakash Books has expanded its adult fiction and non-fiction catalog through its Fingerprint Publishing imprint, which produces a range of titles, including classics, translations, and books on self-help, spirituality and religion.

In 2017, Prakash Books created its children’s imprint, Wonder House, quickly establishing itself as a leading publisher of high-quality, interactive children’s literature, developing a distinct collection of books ranging in genre, content and form. Top-selling titles include Wonder House’s “My First Book” series, Writing Fun, 101 Activity Books, and Namaha – Illustrated Stories from the Lands of Gods and Goddesses.

Most recently, Wonder House was selected as the 2023 Best Children’s Publisher for the continent of Asia at the Bologna Book Fair.

“We’ve witnessed significant growth across the globe in the last few years,” said Gaurav Sabharwal, Managing Director and CEO of Prakash Books. “We’re very excited to partner with the like-minded and enthusiastic team at IPG to help our imprints grow and reach a larger audience in North America.”

Prakash Books will begin North American distribution with IPG starting June 1, 2023.

About Independent Publishers Group

Founded in 1971, IPG was the first organization specifically created for the purpose of marketing titles from independent presses to the book trade. Today, IPG’s wide reach into the book market includes distribution of both print and e-books from a wide array of publishers, digital printing and traditional publishing. With consistent growth year over year, IPG’s success has come from supporting and encouraging the growth of its publishing partners in the United States and worldwide. IPG was acquired by Chicago Review Press in 1987, and this acquisition formed the parent company Chicago Review Press, Inc., which now owns Chicago-based indie publishers Chicago Review Press and Triumph Books.

Cardinal Rule’s newest imprint came in July of this year when Dismondy acquired Bucket Filler Books. Known for its line of best-selling children’s titles by Carol McCloud, Bucket Fillers has sold more than three million books and been translated into ten different languages since McCloud’s debut title, “Have You Filled a Bucket Today: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids.”
