Perez Hilton Bares All With New Book TMI: My Life in Scandal

February 25, 2020

CHICAGO, IL—Original social media influencer and gossip columnist Perez Hilton has inked a new book deal with Chicago Review Press, unpacking all the ups and downs of his illustrious career.

Best known for his social commentary on everything from movie stars to fashion icons, Perez’s new book TMI: My Life in Scandal is the story of how Mario Lavandeira became Perez Hilton, the world’s first celebrity blogger with millions of readers around the globe, while also becoming the most hated man in Hollywood.

“I’m really nervous about this book. This is me. The real me,” says Perez, who recently finished a stint on I’m a Celebrity. . .Get Me Out of Here!. “And I have a lot to say. As always! From famous feuds and your favorite celebs, we talk about everyone and everything. My story is the American dream that my parents fled Cuba for. It’s also an inspiring tale that predates all these influencers. I’m still here. And this book explains all the reasons why.”

TMI opens with the now-infamous story of and Perez’s ongoing feud, culminating with’s manager punching Perez at an award show afterparty in 2009. From there Perez takes his readers down his own journey of being bullied as a child, beginning his career with what’s now, and starting and raising a family. Throughout the book he unpacks the hardships he’s experienced and caused. With a new perspective on life as a father, he reflects on the life he’s led and the future for him and his family.

“I’ve always appreciated people who monkeywrench celebrity culture, and Perez Hilton does that as well as anyone,” said Chicago Review Press senior editor Jerome Pohlen. “Reading his memoir, I was surprised at how forthright he is about his own role in the world of gossip—good and bad. It’s honest and funny, he owns up to his mistakes, and yet he doesn’t back down when he’s in the right. That would be enough for most readers, but his memoir also includes touching personal stories about the challenges he has faced as a gay youth, his dedication to his family, and his decision to become a father.”

“This is just an amazing read,” says Perez’s agent Daniel Kim of Arena Scripts Literary and Film Agency. “Perez takes us through the truly extraordinary, thought-provoking and hilarious story of his life completely unfiltered and with raw emotion. There is no holding back.”

Releasing October 6, 2020, TMI will be available at bookstores and retailers nationwide, and is distributed by Independent Publishers Group. TMI is coauthored with Leif Eriksson and Martin Svensson.
