Overview

"If the thief is found breaking in, and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt of bloodshed for him." -- Exodus22:2

1859 Malechai ben Pallache, a Ukranian-Jew and soldier of fortune who has made his way through the world fueled by blood and pain has been enlisted to hunt down Dragan, the bastard priest who kicked off the pogroms before fleeing to California. But the profane holy man has more than blood on his hands, he has also stolen a box that holds terrible evil. Brodie is infested with hungry demons and dangerous men, gold and vice drawing in the worst that humanity or demonkind have to offer, all standing between Malechai and the priest. But, he does not travel alone. Joined by a succubus of terrible power and the silent golem Mishpat, Malechai will stop at nothing to find Dragan and bring his twisted reign to an end. What follows is a blood-drowned, hatred-fueled battle of wills, bullets, and mutilation that will forever stain the ground of Brodie California.

Reviews

"Abhorrent, aberrant, and emetic, John Baltisberger's creature carnage lures you with a siren song you won't be able to resist—even as you gag and mutate." —Ryan Harding (Genital Grinder, Pandemonium, The Night Stockers).

"Splatterpunk nominee John Baltisberger presents his twisted intellect, painting images of biological evolutions. Using these visionary strokes of genius, John provides bio-luminescent creatures, spider-like predators and mammoth Kaiju monsters. This experimentation of mutated horror sweeps all angles of fictional horror for the reader. From chemically laced monstrosities to gruesome attempts of survival, this fatal pandemic infects the contaminated with a hunger for bone, flesh and blood. Adapting unnatural ideas into a twisted mass of contorted images is an obvious strength of Baltisberger. His ingredients of bile, bone and viscera make up a recipe specifically geared towards a baked gore platter served on each and every page. If you like Barker, Lovecraft and the unpredictability of George R.R. Martin you will want to sink your cross pollinated talons into this one. Not since watching The Thing have I wanted to stand up and cheer for a unique addition to the horror community. Abhorrent Siren has all the nightmarish shocks and chaotic terror to qualify as a must read for all horror fans. Believe me...you do not want to miss out on this one. A strong five star Horror Bookworm Recommendation" —Mike Rankin, Horror Bookworm Reviews

"A Masterpiece of horror, drama, and stylistic voice, if this doesn't win an award, something is wrong with the system" —Edward Lee

"Splatterpunk Poetry at its finest." —Horror Bookworm Reviews

"Phenomenal and action-packed." —Christina Eleanor

"The characters are vibrant, the dialogue is clever, the sex is steamy, and the action brutal. ... Extreme horror at its finest and everything a Splatter Western should be." —Bibliophilia Templum

"This one ranks in the Top 5 of the Splatterwesterns from DHP for me. A HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend 10/5." —Christina Pfeiffer, Mothers of Mayhem
