IPG Signs Nine More Former SPD Publishers to its Sales & Distribution Programs

CHICAGO - Independent Publishers Group (IPG) is pleased to announce the addition of nine new publishers to its sales and distribution programs. The new publishers, all former Small Press Distribution (SPD) clients, have found a new home at IPG following its presentation last month to the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses (CLMP) and subsequent virtual open house. As a longtime supporter of the small press community, IPG sympathizes with the publishers that were displaced by SPD’s closure. IPG will continue to provide publishers with information and guidance to help navigate the chaos and keep the community thriving. IPG intends to help these new signings offset some expenses by aiding with the consolidation and shipping of inventory from both Ingram and PSSC.

Black Lawrence Press is an independent publisher founded in 2004 in upstate New York between the Black and St. Lawrence Rivers. They publish contemporary poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and the occasional translation from German. IPG will distribute Black Lawrence worldwide beginning July 1.

Blackwater Press is an independent publisher and editorial consultancy based in West Virginia. With an international team of editors, they are dedicated to producing beautiful books for readers throughout the English-speaking world and helping authors achieve their full potential. Starting July 1, IPG will distribute Blackwater worldwide.

IPG will distribute Bull City Press worldwide beginning July 1. Bull City is an independent, volunteerrun small press based in North Carolina publishing chapbooks, the quarterly journal Inch, and the occasional full-length book of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction.

IPG will distribute Chax Press worldwide starting July 1. Chax is a nonprofit literary publishing and arts organization based in Tucson, Arizona and has published over 250 books. Chax is a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Literary Publishing and continues to publish challenging and innovative contemporary writing.

Founded in 2003, Grid Books is a publisher of poetry and other editions foregrounding creative work that springs from the margins. Grid Books seeks a variety of perspectives expressed across genres, including poetry, fiction, and fine art editions. IPG will begin worldwide distribution for Grid Books on July 1.

IPG will distribute Marsh Hawk Press worldwide starting July 1. Marsh Hawk is a nonprofit that publishes poetry and poetic memoirs for general readers and classroom instruction. Notable recent titles have received several awards, including the PEN Oakland-Josephine Miles Award for Excellence in Literature.

Beginning July 1, IPG will distribute Ronsdale Press worldwide excluding Canada. Ronsdale is a Vancouver-based publisher of quality literary fiction, non-fiction, young reader chapter books, and poetry by Canadian authors. Ronsdale embraces progressive ideas, diverse voices, and stories that educate and inspire readers.

Roof Books, an imprint of the nonprofit Segue Foundation, has published experimental, innovative, and avant garde poetry and criticism since 1976. Founded by James Sherry as an extension of Roof magazine, Roof Books currently publishes six titles annually, representing the leading contemporary voices in experimental poetry and poetics. IPG will distribute Roof Books worldwide starting July 1.

Sinister Wisdom is a multicultural lesbian literary and art journal that publishes four issues a year. They seek to advance the exploration of lesbian community issues by recognizing the power of language to reflect diverse experiences and enhance the ability to develop critical judgement. Beginning July 1, IPG will distribute Sinister Wisdom worldwide.
