IPG Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity Statement

IPG acknowledges that as an independent voice in the publishing industry, we play a role in shaping cultural narratives and influencing which voices are ultimately heard. We recognize that our industry has been complicit in sustaining injustice and that we must work to root out any racism, prejudice, and injustice within our company. We commit to championing voices from underrepresented communities and working with those whose race, color, sex, national origin, age, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, military or veteran status, or disability bring diverse perspectives to our program. IPG strives for a culture of equity and justice. We must be a workplace that reflects the communities we live in and the markets we aim to serve.

Action Steps We Committed To

  • With full support from our corporate officers, we established a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity committee in 2020 to develop a program of education, responsibility, and resources for all at IPG to learn to identify and dismantle structural inequities. [Ongoing]
  • We are committed to communicating clear content standards to our client publishers to ensure the products we distribute don’t inflict harm on our communities. [Six months]
  • We commit to examining our workplace culture to ensure we are providing an inclusive, safe, and accessible space for all employees. [Initial survey completed, to be repeated annually]
  • We are striving to make our recruitment equitable by removing barriers and actively recruiting in underserved areas. [First quarter 2021]
  • We are working to eradicate unconscious bias in all areas of employment. [Currently ongoing]
  • We will empower our client publishers to seek out, identify, and champion diverse titles. [Webinars to begin within six months, submission process by mid 2021]
  • We will continue to build upon this dialogue and acknowledge when and where we can do better as an organization. We welcome and encourage community feedback.
  • Our action plan and future steps will be evaluated on a regular basis.
