IPG Adds Seven New Publishers to Distribution Programs

October 26, 2021

CHICAGO, IL—Independent Publishers Group (IPG) has added seven new publishers to its Trafalgar Square Publishing (TSP) and IPG Spanish divisions.

TSP is IPG’s international division and is known for distributing a broad range of top titles and authors from publishers from the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Singapore. IPG Spanish is IPG’s Spanish-language division that distributes titles written in Spanish from all over the Spanish-speaking world.

“I’m delighted to be adding such a diverse group of publishers to our distribution program,” said Brooke O’Donnell, managing director for TSP and IPG Spanish. “These publishers come to us from the UK, Australia, Singapore, and Spain and bring with them decades of publishing experience and unique and varied voices for readers here.”

Marshall Cavendish International, whose distribution with TSP began on July 1, 2021, is a world-renowned general interest trade publisher in Asia, with a history that spans more than five decades. They are known for publishing a diverse and wide variety of subject areas and bestselling titles in every genre. “We have found in Trafalgar Square Publishing a supportive business partner to grow our business in North America,” said Ethel Tan, general manager for Marshall Cavendish International. “We are looking forward to continuing this partnership for decades to come.”

TSP will also begin distributing Banipal Publishing on November 1, 2021. Banipal, a UK-based publisher, promotes the work and readership of contemporary Arab writers in English and English translation. Also starting with TSP on November 1 is Tablo Tales, an Australian imprint whose first series features the work of great women writers like Claire Messud and Lauren Elkin.

Garnet Publishing Ltd., whose distribution with TSP begins on November 15, 2021, is a UK-based publisher with a special focus on the Middle East, publishing books on architecture, art, economics, travel, culture, and history.

Major Street Publishing starts with TSP on January 1, 2022. Major Street is an independent Australian publisher with books on personal, professional, and career development.

IPG Spanish will begin distribution for Editorial Ekeka on December 1, 2021. Editorial Ekeka is a Buenos Aires-based publisher that spotlights the best of Latin American talent to unite cultures and evoke transformation through their books.

Antoni Bosch Editor, whose distribution with IPG Spanish starts on February 1, 2022, is a Barcelona-based publishing house committed to bringing high-quality economics, science, and music books to its readers.

In June of 2021, Independent Publishers Group (IPG) celebrated its 50th anniversary. As the original North American distributor, IPG was founded specifically to represent titles from independent publishers to the book trade. Today IPG remains committed to reimagining distribution and has grown to provide its publishers with services ranging from pre-publication consultation, global sales, marketing & publicity, supply chain, print and digital distribution, data and reporting, to print brokerage. With consistent growth year over year, IPG’s success has come from giving publishers broader reach into more markets, including general trade, academic, children’s, Spanish, and special markets. In the fall of 2006, Chicago Review Press, Inc. bought Trafalgar Square Publishing, Inc., the leading US distributor of UK and Australian publishers. Trafalgar Square Publishing distributes for clients such as Penguin Random House UK, Penguin Random House Australia, Pan Macmillan UK, Collins UK, and Head of Zeus. IPG is the only major distributor to have a separate Spanish-language product line, and has been distributing Spanish-language titles into North America since 2002.
