The three titles included in this volume offer representative texts from three essential sides of this foundational and controversial author, contemporary of the Generation of ’98 and born in Spain but considered by many as a Paraguayan writer: his protest literature, his aesthetic ideals, and his social thought. Los tres títulos que se incluyen en este volumen ofrecen textos muy representativos de tres facetas esenciales en la obra de este autor fundamental y controvertido, coetáneo de la Generación del '98 y nacido en España pero considerado por muchos como un escritor paraguayo: su literatura de denuncia, sus ideas estéticas y su pensamiento social.

Author Biography

Rafael Barrett was a novelist, essayist, and journalist whose work was mostly published posthumously. He is the author of Cuentos breves, El dolor paraguayo, and Moralidades actuales.
