Andersen’s first novel, this was the first modern novel featuring a contemporary theme in the Nordic country. Andersen based this book on himself, as in almost all his work, so the reader can get close to the soul of the author and find many elements which appear time and again in his tales. La primera novela de Andersen, esta fue la primera novela moderna en emplear un tema contemporáneo en el país Nórdico. Andersen basó este libro en su propia vida, como hizo con la mayoría de su obra, por lo cual el lector puede acercarse al espíritu del autor y reconocer muchos de los elementos que aparecen una y otra vez en sus cuentos.

Author Biography

Hans Christian Andersen was a Danish poet and author of poems, plays, stories, and travel essays, best known for his fairy tales of which there are over one hundred and fifty, published in numerous collections during his life and many still in print today. Enrique Bernardez is a translator.
