Overview

Cumbres Borrascosas is the essential English romantic novel of the 19th century. It describes the passionate and intense love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, an orphan adopted by Catherine#&39;s father. Bullied by Catherine#&39;s brother and believing his love unrequited, Heathcliff leaves and returns years later a wealthy man. He then exacts his revenge in a chaotic, violent, and jealous manner.

Author Biography

Emily Brontë only published one novel in her lifetime, Wuthering Heights, under the pseudonym Ellis Bell. The work was ignored in its time, although it was later considered a classic of English literature.
