Elaborating on the first and only museum in the world dedicated exclusively to lighting installations, this consideration focuses on the Center for International Light Art in Unna, documenting its valuable collection of works by international artists as well as the exhibitions to date. Works specifically developed for the vaulted cellar of the museum are investigated, contributed by 10 of the world's most renowned creators of lighting installations. The labyrinthine corridors, cooling rooms, and fermentation vats of the institution are all captured as well as Mario Merz’s fascinating neon installation, “Fibonacci-Row.” Detailed and comprehensive, this examination clearly illustrates how existing artistic lighting installations are planned and conceived. This bilingual edition includes English and German.
