Overview

Dark, complex and nail-bitingly tense, The Ice Swimmer is the latest and most unforgettable installment in the critically acclaimed Oslo Detective series, by the godfather of Nordic Noir

When a dead man is lifted from the freezing waters of Oslo Harbour just before Christmas, Detective Lena Stigersand's stressful life suddenly becomes even more complicated. Not only is she dealing with a cancer scare, a stalker and an untrustworthy boyfriend, but it seems both a politician and Norway's security services might be involved in the murder. With her trusted colleagues, Gunnarstranda and Frølich, at her side, Lena digs deep into the case and finds that it not only goes to the heart of the Norwegian establishment, but it might be rather to close to her personal life for comfort.

Reviews

"Superb. . . . Dahl highlights social issues in contemporary Norway, revealing the unsavory results of sexual obsession and obsessive greed, along with the personal cost that police officers pay to protect the public. The action comes to a climax in an utterly convincing chase through Oslo's sewage system. The translator's stripped-down, muscular prose is a plus." —Publishers Weekly starred review of Faithless "excellent…Fans of Scandinavian noir will be eager for Dahl's next book."—Publishers Weekly ?

"A masterclass in plotting, atmosphere and character that finely balances shocking twists." —Times Crime Club

"Recommend to fans of Karin Fossum and Kjell Eriksson. Dahl is a formidable talent whose books may well become as popular in the US as in Norway." —Booklist on The Fourth Man

"A chilling novel about betrayal." —Sunday Times

"More than gripping." —European Literature Network

"If you have never sampled Dahl, now is the time to try." —Daily Mail

"The perfect example of why Nordic Noir has become such a popular genre." —Reader's Digest

"Dramatic, fast-paced and character-focused." —Crime Review
