Sycorax's Daughters Coeditor Wins Horror Writers of America Lifetime Achievement Award

Sycorax's Daughters

Linda D. Addison—accomplished American poet and writer of horror, fantasy, and science fiction—is the recipient of the Horror Writers of America's Lifetime Achievement Award for 2017. Addison will receive the award at StokerCon 2018 on March 1-4, 2018 in Providence, Rhode Island.

"I'm beyond excited and humbled by receiving an award I'd never considered being given," says Addison—the first African American winner of the Bram Stoker Award, which she went on to receive four times.

Her most recent contribution to the genre, Sycorax’s Daughters (Cedar Grove Publishing, 9781941958445)—coedited by Linda D. Addison, Kinitra D. Brooks, PhD., and Susana Morris, PhD—is a horror anthology of 28 stories and 14 poems by African American women writers. From demons, shape-shifters, mermaids, and ghosts to new Afrofuturist themes, this anthology both entertains and enlightens readers.
