Overview
This is the story of the last of the broadcasters willing, nay eager, to hold authority’s feet to the fire. Rafe Mair combined his experience as a lawyer and cabinet minister along with his deep love of his province and the City of Vancouver to build a radio career that angered many, especially politicians, but attracted huge audiences.Author Biography
Rafe Mair was a best-selling Canadian author with nine published works including Canada, Is Anyone Listening? and his most recent Radio Daze. A lawyer by trade, Rafe was elected to the British Columbia legislature in 1975 and served as a Cabinet Minister under Premier Bill Bennett until 1980, when he retired from politics and reinvented himself as a radio talk-show host. Brash, opinionated and (usually) well-informed, Rafe dominated the West Coast airwaves for twenty-five years, championing social justice and environmentalism. Sadly, Rafe passed away in October 2017 at the age of 85.
