Senior Software Developer

FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Project Manager
Employment Status: Full-time

Overview

Independent Publishers Group is looking for a talented Senior Software Developer to join our team. The Senior Software Developer will work closely with the business to build new system components and refactor existing distribution software. The ideal candidate will have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve difficult problems, explore new technology solutions, work independently, and adhere to software development best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Design applications following specifications outlined by project manager
  • Report on project progress to business executives during regular meetings
  • Collaborate with IT administrators on hardware requirements and upgrades
  • Document design decisions and infrastructure plan for future collaborative development
  • Troubleshoot and identify the root cause of system issues with minimal supervision
  • Perform maintenance on existing system versions
  • Deploy code updates to QA and production systems
  • Mentor junior developers and train new developers on existing software

Qualificiations:

  • Bachelor’s of Science in computer science or equivalent on-the-job experience
  • 5+ years of programming enterprise applications in (Java or C# preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience with programming data access for applications
  • Demonstrable experience procuring, installing, and monitoring database and application servers
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle, TDD, and Agile development practices
  • Experience with server administration including virtual machine management
  • Excited to take on challenging tasks with a small, highly motivated and talented scrum team
  • Positive attitude, reliable, self-motivated, team player with excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable working as part of a distributed team
  • Demonstrable experience or certifications in the .Net Framework, Mongodb, SQL Server, ASP.Net MVC, Angular.js or similar javascript framework, Python or Powershell are all positives
  • Knowledgeable in web architectures, software development, LDAP infrastructures, applications platforms, SQL Server and other database architectures
  • Strong knowledge of C.I. and source control concepts and best practices
  • Experience working in both Windows Server 2012 and Linux environments
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze existing software applications.
  • Physical abilities. This is a sedentary role. The ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time is required.
  • Travel requirements: 0-5% domestic travel may be required.
