Quality Assurance Analyst

FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Project Manager
Location: Berkeley, CA (Bay Area) or Chicago, IL

Overview

Independent Publishers Group is looking for a talented Quality Assurance Analyst to join our team. The Quality Assurance Analyst will work closely with the project manager to ensure the quality and integrity of all software products and applications, as well as monitor processes and procedures in product development. The ideal candidate will have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve difficult problems, explore new technology solutions, work independently, and adhere to software development best practices.  

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and maintain software builds and configuration management controls for company products.
  • Conduct testing on all software products for applicable OS platforms utilizing systems analysis techniques and procedures.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures throughout Agile software development life cycle to improve efficiency and overall quality of company products.
  • Collect metric data for trend analysis from Splunk and New Relic.
  • Report on key quality and performance metrics of the software.
  • Define and implement automation tasks that ensure better quality products and increase efficiency in QA.
  • Troubleshoot and identify the root cause of system issues with minimal supervision.
  • Deploy code updates to QA and production systems.
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities from time to time

Qualificiations:

  • Bachelors of science in computer science or equivalent on-the-job experience
  • 5+ years of experience in software development with emphasis in quality assurance methodologies and testing
  • Familiarity with GUI applications and the client server environment
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle, TDD, and Agile development practices
  • Experience with server administration including virtual machine management
  • Excited to take on challenging tasks with a small, highly motivated and talented scrum team
  • Positive attitude, reliable, self-motivated, team player with excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable working as part of a distributed team
  • Demonstrable experience or certifications in the version control tools such as Git, Gerrit, and/or SVN
  • Strong knowledge of C.I. and source control concepts and best practices
  • Experience working in both Windows Server 2012 and Linux environments
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze existing software applications
