Overview

This historical romance novel narrates the story of a young courtesan who escaped the Inquisition of Italy.  After feeling as though her life was about to end within the gloomy catacombs of the Dominican convent, she managed to escape by boat without a sail that led her to the Mecca of the New World. In a village filled with mud hats and tall pastures, Isabella finds herself in an unrecognizable society. Among conquerors, impoverished neighbors, rich slave traders, she will find new dangers, rules she fails to understand, but also love. The passionate relationship with Pedro de Aguilera causes her to forget everything, even her past. But this captivating gentleman has secrets from his past, too.

Author Biography

Mariana Guarinoni is an Argentinean author, a professional journalist, and has written for national media for many years. She was the editorial director of the magazine Vanidades and editor of Para Tí, among many other magazines. This is her first historical novel.
