Reviews

“In this book, Teaching from the Heart of Mindfulness, Lauren Alderfer explains how it is possible to cultivate warm-heartedness through the practice of mindfulness.” —His Holiness The XIV Dalai Lama, praise for Teaching from the Heart or Mindfulness by Lauren Alderfer

Teaching from the Heart of Mindfulness is an invaluable resource to nourish heart and soul in teachers and their students. At a time when many in education are losing heart, this book will help teachers take heart, reclaiming the inward source from which all good teaching flows.” —Parker J. Palmer, author of The Courage to Teach

“For the sake of this next generation, and the wellbeing of our world, my prayer is that this beautiful book reaches teachers world-wide.” —Tara Brach, PhD., author of Radical Acceptance and True Refuge

“Dr. Lauren Alderfer is a pioneer in the field of mindfulness in education. Teaching from the Heart of Mindfulness shows us what a truly mindful teaching practice looks like.” —Meena Srinivasan, author of Teach, Breathe, Learn: Mindfulness In and Out of the Classroom

“Lauren Alderfer writes from deep personal practice and wise experience, providing meaningful anecdotes and resources that educators around the world will find both useful and inspiring. This book reminds us to start with ourselves in order to be of most benefit to others as we widen our circle of care.” —Krysten Fort-Catanese, Director of Social Emotional Learning and Mindfulness, Phuket International Academy, Thailand

“In her lovingly crafted Mindful Microdosing Journal, Lauren Alderfer offers a gentle, playful, and wise invitation into the world of the mycelium. I can almost feel her holding my hand and guiding my inner vision as I am encouraged to carefully and intentionally enter the enchanted, mysterious, and healing underworld of the mushroom. In a modern world that is rife with distractions, advertisements, and admonishments to use sacred medicines to one's benefit, Lauren offers a compassionate, grounded and inspiring antidote. Through mindfulness suggestions, setting intentions, and invitations to create beauty, the reader is encouraged to tend to the garden of their life and delight in what blooms through new relationships. The Mindful Microdosing Journal is a breath of fresh air.” —Katherine MacLean, PhD, psychedelic scientist and author of Midnight Water: A Psychedelic Memoir.

“This journal offers many gentle invitations to discover the magic of mushrooms while microdosing. In the process, you may find that, more than the mind, it serves your most authentic, heartful, and playful self. No matter what protocol you follow, or how many microdosing cycles you've completed up to this point, this is your canvas to explore the depth and meaning of your experience in a linear or non-linear way. Allow yourself to engage with the fresh, yet ancient teachings of our mushroom allies and derive truth from your own unique experience.” —Jakobien van der Weijden, co-founder of The Microdosing Institute.

“Bringing together mindfulness and microdosing makes perfect synergic sense. Microdosing can elicit and support mindfulness during everyday life, and mindfulness can help to enhance the benefits of microdosing. A clear win/win.” —Dr. Jorge N. Ferrer, scholar and transpersonal psychologist.
