Overview

With two stories written by the feminist writer of "A Vindication of the Rights of Woman" and a third story written by her daughter, the author of the classic Frankenstein, this compilation of Romantic tales provides insight into the lives of women in the 19th century. Exploring female identity and subjectivity, these stories focus on the claustrophobia produced by the conventional household and by a woman's expected role within it. With a good dose of social consciousness, these stories are sure to both entertain and educate readers of the 21st century as they did those in the past.
