Marketing Coordinator

Overview
The Marketing Coordinator will join the Marketing team and specifically provide support to the Publisher Marketing team on campaigns for IPG’s two in-house publishers, Chicago Review Press and Triumph Books, as well as their imprints. The Marketing Coordinator manages higher-level campaigns across multiple title verticals and oversees promotions for specific publisher imprints. In addition to their title work, the Marketing Coordinator oversees other duties as outlined below. This role utilizes social media skills, event planning, partnership building, author engagement, data analysis, and other strategies to bring together individual campaigns for each title.
Success in this role involves knowledge of the book industry, sports and pop culture trends, the ability to think strategically about how to boost awareness and sales. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, the ability to create and maintain new relationships with authors, stores, teams, and organizations in line with the company’s goals to grow and advance in the marketplace.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Serve as a title lead to a portion of both publishers’ seasonal lists. This includes overall campaign development, management, and execution, author event planning and A-level tours, outreach to social media influencers and potential revenue-sharing partners, scheduling and booking ads, and ad and marketing material write-ups.
- Oversee and coordinate the calendar and content for the department’s social media efforts with particular focus on Triumph Books and Chicago Review Press’ social media accounts by generating organic content, promoting events and engaging with different audiences including our authors.
- Handle majority of backlist marketing efforts for both Chicago Review Press and Triumph Books
- Serve as the department expert on Barnes & Noble; liaisons with our in-house sales manager to ensure proper market coverage, coordinates any advertising, and nurtures partnership.
- Coordinate and maintain relationships with select industry advertisers as assigned
- Research and implement SEO strategies across titles such as adding keywords, BISACs, improving title, copy, author bio, and other to help books surface in search results on Google, Amazon, and on other retail and library sites.
- Assist with trade shows and sales conferences
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
We are looking for an experienced marketer with high energy, enthusiasm, and passion for the book industry who can channel that into envisioning and executing creative marketing campaigns for our publishers and brands.
- A passion for books and a positive can-do attitude
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, preferably in English or Marketing
- 2+ years in book publishing; experience in Marketing, Promotion, Advertising, or Sales departments preferred.
- Impeccable written and verbal communication skills. Chicago Manual of Style or equivalent.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively while also maintaining accuracy and meticulous attention to detail are essential.
- Must be proactive, flexible, and adaptive in a fast-paced environment.
- A working knowledge of HTML as it can be applied to WordPress, MailChimp, Constant Contact, and other WYSIWYG platforms
- An understanding of Google Analytics & CRM platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics, MailChimp
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, as well as Canva, InDesign (or Adobe Creative Suite), or similar design programs
- An interest in and savvy for social media platforms including but not limited to Instagram, TikTok (Booktok, even better!), Twitter, Pinterest, Goodreads, StoryGraph, YouTube, and an eye for emerging platforms as well
- Knowledge and passion for pop culture, music, history, and sports
- Event planning experience
- Familiarity with book industry tools such as Above the Treeline/Edelweiss, Bookscan, Firebrand Title Management, and similar
- Ability to work on a team, but also individually and with a variety of people
- Physical abilities: lift and carry 25 lb. boxes
- Travel requirements: Ability to travel up to 10%
