Marketing Assistant

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Marketing Manager
Employment Status: Full time

Overview

The Marketing Assistant works with the Publisher Marketing team on campaigns for IPG’s two in-house publishers, Chicago Review Press and Triumph Books, as well as their imprints. The Marketing Assistant specifically manages B and C-level campaigns as well as most paperback and second editions. This role utilizes social media skills, event planning, partnership building, research, and other strategies to bring together individual campaigns for each title.

Success in this role involves knowledge of industry, sports and pop culture trends, ability to think strategically about how to boost sales, and possess excellent communication skills. The ability to create and maintain new relationships with authors, stores, teams and organizations is also in line with the company’s goals to grow and advance in the publishing marketplace.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Serve as a title lead to a portion of both publisher’s seasonal lists. This includes overall campaign development and management, author event planning, outreach to endorsers and potential revenue-sharing partners, ad campaign and marketing material write-ups.
  • Researches and creates the social media calendar of Triumph Books and Chicago Review Press’ used to plan social content throughout the month.
  • Assists in creating content and scheduling social media for both publishers
  • Manage the Chicago Review Press blog by generating organic content, organizing planning meetings and outreach to authors for content
  • Design a high-frequency need of event posters, social media designs, sell sheets and intermittent support of department collateral materials. This includes work utilizing InDesign, Canva and other preferred creative programming.
  • Assist in filling out Triumph Books and Chicago Review Press ebook submission forms for various ebook promotions.
  • Assist in organizing the Triumph Books’ website, by adding new titles under their corresponding categories and creating shortlinks for all new Triumph Books and Chicago Review Press titles.
  • Assists publisher marketing team with trade show coordination, mailings, and research projects.
  • Researches and implements relevant keywords and SEO.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in English or Marketing.
  • Familiarity with InDesign and Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail, passion for books, creative, and has a positive attitude
  • Knowledge of industry, pop culture and sports
  • Event planning experience
  • Tech and social media savvy
  • Works well under deadlines and in a fast pace environment.
  • Ability to work on a team, but also individually and with a variety of people
  • Physical abilities: Moving maximum 35 lb boxes
  • Travel requirements: Ability to travel up to 5% and local events
