I Am Barack Obama

Overview

A unique and poetic picture book, this is not a biography of President Barack Obama, but rather a story of him growing up as an ordinary child asking, “Who will change the world?” Allowing children to see themselves through his inspirational story, it highlights for children their personal power to affect the world around them in a positive way. Also included in the book are personal reflections from children across the United States about the impact President Obama has had on their lives and aspirations.

Author Biography

Charisse Carney-Nunes is a senior officer of the Jamestown Project and a graduate of the Harvard Law School, the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and Lincoln University. She is the author of I Dream for You a World, Nappy, and Songs of a Sistermom. She lives in Washington, DC. Ann Marie Williams was the winner of an international competition for the National Cherry Blossom Festival Art Award and is a graduate of Howard University’s fine arts program. She is the illustrator of I Dream for You a World and Nappy. She lives in Vienna, Virginia.
