Overview

Learn about your own "sexpectations" with practical exercises to discover your authentic sexual self

We live in a hyper sexualized society; porn, hook ups and dates are easily accessible for anyone with an internet connection. Just like fast food, sex has become picture-perfect and freely available but devoid of real connection. Recent surveys in the UK report that approximately one in three women deem themselves less interested in sex than they should be and one in four men believe they don't last long enough in bed. In a nutshell, our sexpectations (beliefs that we hold consciously or unconsciously about sex, passed down through our upbringing, peer group and personal sexual history) are making us more insecure, causing our mental health, self-esteem and relationships to suffer. This revolutionary book will guide you through simple exercises to help you discover your authentic sexual self and rectify unhelpful beliefs and behaviors so you can enjoy truly fulfilling relationships and sexual experiences. Great Sexpectations is one of the most extensive sexual guides out there. It is written by heterosexual sex therapist and clinical psychologist Gemma Cribbs and award-winning gay sex journalist James Findlay. The book is divided into three parts. The first is a history of sex through the ages demonstrating how culturally and time specific and also fluid sexpectations are. The second delves into common present-day sexpectations to demonstrate which of these assumptions you may have absorbed and their impact. Part three helps you strip away your sexpectations, dive into a new awareness of your sexuality and discover how to expresss it alone or with a partner.  Filled with tips, exercises, case studies and history, Great Sexpectations will empower you to live the life that you want based on your embodied needs and
