Overview

Winner of the 2010 Mom's Choice Gold Award, Adult Parenting categoryThrough shared insights and experiences, this mother of 10 boys teaches and inspires moms to raise sons who are compassionate, loving, responsible, well educated, and faith filled. Her simple advice and easy-to-follow principles take the “difficulty” out of raising sons. Advocating a practical and realistic approach that recognizes societal influences without allowing them to create a fear factor, she shies away from identifying sons as “abnormal” because they do not follow the female pattern of development. Believing that diversity education begins at home within the family, she counsels that each child is unique in their interests, abilities, and strengths and that appreciating their individual gifts is key to their upbringing. She encourages and motivates mothers to make a commitment to their sons’ upbringing that provides them with the tools they need to reach their full potential—emotionally, intellectually, physically, and spiritually. Her philosophy provides not only a joy-filled mothering experience but the ability to raise well-adjusted and successful sons.

Reviews

"Motivating and inspirational. . . . find inspiration and support for raising children who are less stressed by using positive communication, organization and prioritizing, and realistic expectations." —Notebook: The National Organization of Mothers of Twins

"The Garcia-Prats are experts at parenting, not the type that comes with a PhD in family studies, but the type that comes from raising 10 kind, responsible, well-adjusted children (all boys). Their advice is practical and encompasses tried and true methods of fostering family bonds. They are willing to share their failures, too, so they never come off as preachy." —Parent Council Review on Good Families Don't Just Happen

"This family is remarkable not only for its sheer size, but also for its determination to fight off the erosion of traditional values in today's fast-paced world. They are raising not only good students but children with good character." —Ladies' Home Journal on Good Families Don't Just Happen
