Overview

Poet, essayist, composer and painter, Rabindranath Tagore was the first non-European writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913. With his venerable guru appearance, he traveled the world and was the representative of Eastern wisdom and symbol of the movement. In 1914 he published The Gardener, a collection of poems that constitutes one of the most enduring examples of the simple but profound style with which Tagore knew how to captivate several generations of readers.
