Overview
This Surrey village dates from Roman times, and was still only a small settlement on the River Mole when it was recorded by Domesday Book (1086). Road, canal and railway encouraged the development of the three communities: Street Cobham, Church Cobham and Tilt Cobham. Here is the story of a community of wide variety and one of the largest parishes in the county. From royal mistresses to philosophers, stately homes to car manufacture, non-conformity to Utopia – this is Cobham: A History.Author Biography
