Author Biography

Uday Devgan, MD, is chief of ophthalmology at Olive View University of California–Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center and associate clinical professor at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at the UCLA School of Medicine. He is the author of more than 100 books, technical articles, and scientific papers on ocular surgical techniques. He lives in Los Angeles.  While a professor at U.C.L.A., Dr. Maloney trained more than 700 surgeons in the use of the excimer laser, and has personally performed more than 17,000 vision correction surgeries. The first surgeon to perform LASIK in western North America, Dr. Maloney was voted one of the America's top vision correction specialists in a nationwide survey of eye surgeons conducted by Ophthalmology Times magazine. He lectures internationally, and has appeared widely on national radio and television. He is seen doing LASIK surgery on the ABC program Extreme Makeovers; he also also appeared on NBC's Extra, ABC's 20/20 and Prime Time Live, PBS's Life and Times, CNN's The World Today, and has been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers.
