FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Director of IT
Employment Status: Full-time

Independent Publishers Group is looking for a talented Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to develop and maintain our data warehouse and its data sources and outputs.

Responsibilities include the maintenance and refactoring of our sales focused OLAP cube, expansion and revisions to the tables, stored procedures, views etc. behind the data warehouse, and similar responsibilities for importing data into the system via ETLs / SSIS and reporting data out in the form of XML data feeds and reports and BI dashboards facilitated via SSRS.

  • Document procedures and train support staff on the use of new and changed software
  • Collaborate with the IT team using agile-oriented project management tools including JIRA, Confluence, and Slack
  • Carry out monitoring, tuning, and database performance analysis
  • Ensure all data warehouse architecture codes are maintained in a version control system.
  • Remain current on new technologies and available vendor packages; evaluate and make recommendations as necessary.

  • Possess Bachelor’s degree in an analytical related field, including information technology, science, and engineering discipline
  • Three to five years’ experience performing business intelligence development
  • Experience with technologies such as SQL Server, Power BI, and Azure Data Factory
  • Exceptional experience developing SQL code, testing for quality assurance, administering RDBMS, and monitoring of database
  • High proficiency in dimensional modeling techniques and their applications
  • Strong analytical, consultative, and communication skills; as well as the ability to make good judgment and work with both technical and business personnel
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze existing RDBMS applications
  • Excited to take on challenging tasks with a small, highly motivated and talented scrum team
  • Reliable, self-motivated team player with positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable working as part of a distributed team
