Bindery Finishing Operator Level 1

FLSA Status: non-exempt
Reports to: Supervisor
Employment Status: Full time

Overview

The Bindery / Finishing Operator Level 1 has a background in book binding and book finishing systems. They can operate, maintain, and troubleshoot this machinery when it breaks down and should be able to get the machine running again in most cases. This individual must be able to express themselves clearly and be able to train less experienced staff on the correct operation of the machines as needed.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Operate and troubleshoot popular Standard / Horizon binding Equipment including BQ 470 / 480 or BQ 270/280
  • Operate and troubleshoot popular Standard / Horizon finishing Equipment including HT80 / HT1000 3- knife trimmers
  • Operate and troubleshoot guillotine cutters / single-blade trimmers as needed
  • Solid understanding of all binding and trimming issues
  • Solid understanding of standard operating procedures and maintenance of all binding and trimming equipment
  • Work in a safe manner following all safety procedures
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Express themselves clearly in both verbal and written communication
  • All other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Digital printing and print shop experience required.
  • Should have moderate mechanical ability.
  • Ability to be self-directed.
  • Physical abilities. Standing and walking for long periods of time, must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Travel requirements. 0 %
  • Direct experience with BQ-480 and HT1000s preferred
