Overview

Rubén Darío is perhaps the greatest exponent of Latin American literary modernism. His style is rich in lively and suggestive images, with an aesthetic that reminds us of both oriental landscapes and fairy tales using precise metrics and highly evocative vocabulary. Written during his stay in Chile, Azul marked the author's personal and literary maturity and made him known throughout the world.

Author Biography

Rubén Darío is the author of various poems such as “Abrojos” and “Epic Song to the Glories of Chile”. He first published Azul when he was just 19 years old, which was revised four years later. Writers such as Antonio Machado, Leopoldo Lugones and Julio Herrera recognized him as the creator and founder of a new era in poetry in the Spanish language.
