Overview

The exhibition in Frankfurt (Kunstverein Familie Montez) showed an overview of current works (2014-2018) by the Iranian artist Ahmad Rafi, who lives in Frankfurt. The topic of those works is "water" (Iranian: "aab"), which is expressed in different media (paintings, video installations, mixed media). Traditionally the flow of water is a symbol of movement and rest at the same time. It is an image of the human being or passing time. Within this topic Rafi transmits social themes as well, for example: Journey to Lampedusa, in which Rafi deals with the topic of people fleeing across the sea.
