Overview

In this warm, delightful Christmas tale, a 13th century lamb named Bart wants to know more about a mysterious man from the town of Assisi who talks to animals. Bart and his friends face challenges and danger, learn the meaning of love, honor, and sacrifice, and help start the tradition of the Christmas nativity scene we still enjoy today.

Reviews

“A beautiful story of love and belonging which is such an important lesson to impart to our two daughters who are dealing with groups, cliques, and exactly where to fit in. I plan to give this incredible book to family and friends as a gift this holiday season.” —Brandi (Sherwood) Cochran, Miss Teen USA 1989, Miss USA 1997, former model, The Price Is Right

“A heartwarming story with lovable characters and a touch of history and legend. Any child (and adult) who loves Christmas will love this book.” —Nancy Stafford, actress, speaker, and author of The Wonder of His Love: A Journey into the Heart of God and Beauty by the Book: Seeing Yourself as God Sees You

“This is a most delightful book. It is sure to become a Christmas classic.” —Pam Hinckley, teacher

"A Bellwether Christmas by author Laurel Guillen is a beautiful novel for newly independent readers, about love, belonging, honor and praise. The book tells the story of Brother Francesco (St Francis of Assisi) and the birth of the Christmas nativity. The story is told through the eyes of a sweet and mischievous little lamb, and will appeal to younger readers in this age category. The book would make a great family read on Christmas Eve, and a perfect Christmas gift. 5 Star Rating." —Reader's Choice Book Awards

"A Bellwether Christmas is recommended for independent readers or family or classroom read-alouds. This book has terrific woodcut-style illustrations to go with the story, and Bart is quite the unforgettable character!" —Catholic Mom

"Though Bart the lamb, his shepherd Mundo, and his many animal friends, children will learn about life during medieval times, St Francis’s legendary love for God’s creatures, and the start of one of our greatest holiday traditions: the Christmas creche." —Merci
