Overview

Social service is a tool for the advancement of public interest: it allows states to organize combined efforts led by social authorities for the attainment of the common good. This comprehensive volume compiles various contributions to the debate regarding the place allotted to public service in our modern societies. It also examines the philosophical bases and regulatory principles needed for public service to properly serve its ultimate goal, that of the public good. Finally, it reflects on the best ways to deal with the collisions between legitimate rights and interests that arise in the public service sphere.
