Overview

After tricking his mom and dad into leaving town, Connor is home alone with nobody to tell him to wash the dishes and go to school. The problem is that Connor’s little white lies have spawned a humongous, hairy spider and it’s lurking outside his bedroom window. With no one to turn to for help and the world threatened by the largest arachnid on record, it is up to Connor to save the planet. His only option is to enlist the help of a bumbling NASA nitwit, the weirdest girl in school, and a doddering old lady and her wheezing terrier to stop the spider before the world is doomed.

Reviews

‘Spider Lies is a delightfully fresh and exciting story, combining monsters, space travel, NASA and the intrigues of being a kid who manages to finagle being home alone. With a diverse cast of characters, a dab of giggles, a touch of horror and a healthy helping of tight, focused writing, Banyard has produced a splendid story that will appeal to a wide range of readers.’ ASiF

'I really enjoyed this story. It's so well written, suspenseful and splattered with classroom humour. But beware, if you are arachnophobic it may give you nightmares!' Merle Morcom, Age guide 8+, Good Reading
