Overview

Everything needed to master the art of LEGO robotics

More than two dozen fun and challenging projects using the next generation of LEGO® Mindstorms™ and the Java™ programming language are included in this guide. LEGO Mindstorms NXT 2.0 is an incredible updated kit for building and programming robots and this book introduces a diverse set of projects, building tips, programming code, complete 3-D rendered building instructions, and hundreds of illustrations to guide engineers and amateurs alike. With easy-to-follow instructions, a full chapter on building with the LEGO stud-less brick paradigm, and a complete tutorial on programming Java, this guide has been revised for the latest version of leJOS NXJ and provides more exciting projects that include Bluetooth, navigation, and integration with new devices such as smart phones and game controllers. The projects include a walking robot, a laser sensor, beacon navigation, WiFi control, precise robotic arm control with a SCARA robot and omni-wheels.

Reviews

"Succeeds brilliantly in the difficult tasks of introducing the reader to the Java language, to the Mindstorms system, and to some programming techniques peculiar to robotics . . . in such a pleasant way that [the reader] doesn't even realize [he or she is] learning new concepts."  —Mario Ferrari, author, Building Robots with Lego Mindstorms
