Love in the Holy Qur'an

Overview

Examining at least one verse from every chapter of the Qur’an, and citing more than one-fifth of the entire text, this study analyzes what the Islamic holy book has to say about love. More than simply exploring the well-trodden subjects of love of God and love of neighbor, however, this book discusses familial love, friendship, the stages of falling in love, sexual love, extramarital love, beauty, taste, and many more. Written and structured in such a way that it can be read in its totality or referenced on a chapter-by-chapter basis, this work is essential reading not only for Muslims and scholars of Islam and Qur’an, but anyone interested in the secrets and mysteries of love.

Author Biography

HRH Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad of Jordan is a professor of Islamic philosophy, an interfaith activist, and an author. He established the Great Tafsir Project, the largest online project for the exegesis of the Qur’an, and founded the World Islamic Sciences and Education University. He is the author of the 2010 World Interfaith Harmony Week United Nations General Assembly Resolution. Seyyed Hossein Nasr is a professor of Islamic studies at George Washington University. He is the author of more than 50 books, including The Garden of Truth: The Vision and Promise of Sufism, Islam’s Mystical Tradition, The Heart of Islam: Enduring Values for Humanity, and Man and Nature: The Spiritual Crisis in Modern Man. He lives in Washington, DC.
