Light of New Orleans Publishing was founded the first year of this old millennium in order to create an anthology of the best short stories on the heart of New Orleans. Over two years French Quarter Fiction: The Newest Stories of America’s Oldest Bohemia blossomed into 400 pages containing everything from unpublished Tennessee Williams to a story by some Australian guy who’s outback town was replaced with a telephone box last year. After winning regional book of the year, hitting Amazon’s top 25, the Booksense 76, and regional bestseller lists, our next book was Judy Conner’s Southern Fried Divorce, which immediately upon release landed on the Top 10 Bestselling Humor Books. In January 2005 we sold the title to Gotham Books, an imprint of Penguin. Barry Gifford's Back in America was released in December of 2004 to critical acclaim. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina, a consequence of Louisiana's wetlands erosion criris, focused our efforts elsewhere, including the KARES relief fund. Three years later it was time to get back to publishing and we released How You Can Kill Al Qaeda (in 3 easy steps) by Howard Clark, and his follow-up Revolt Against Al-Qa'Ida. A fitness book called You Are Your Own Gym by Mark Lauren, fitness instructor to our country's most elite level of Special Operations troops, was released in June 2010. While our books have covered a wide spectrum of genres, our mission continues to be to produce books that not only have wide commercial appeal, but that have the real potential to change people for the better.
