IPG to distribute award-winning early childhood resources publisher Gryphon House

January 1, 2013

CHICAGO, October 16, 2012 — Independent Publishers Group (IPG), is proud to announce that it will represent Gryphon House, Inc. beginning January 1, 2013.

Gryphon House, Inc. (www.gryphonhouse.com) is an award-winning publisher of resource books for parents and teachers of children from birth through age eight. With a strong backlist of about 200 titles, their books cover such topics as science, math, literacy and language, music, art, program development, classroom management and special needs.

“We decided to go with IPG because they are aggressively opening new channels outside the traditional book trade,” says Gryphon House General Manager Jennifer Lewis. “In addition, we think this partnership will be a good fit for Gryphon House because IPG emphasizes selling books in backlist.”

Recent bestsellers include the revised edition of The Complete Daily Curriculum for Early Childhood, Global Art: Activities, Projects, and Inventions from Around the World, Science Is Simple: Over 250 Activities for Preschoolers and I Love Letters: More Than 200 Quick & Easy Activities to Introduce Young Children to Letters.

“We are excited to add Gryphon House,” notes IPG President Mark Suchomel. “Their list fits very well with IPG’s specialties and will nicely complement our existing list of teacher and parent resources from Nomad Press, Chicago Review Press and Bright Ring Publishing.”

This spring, Gryphon House will publish 50 Fantastic Things to Do With Babies, 50 Fantastic Things to Do with Toddlers, 50 Fantastic Things to Do with Preschoolers, Time to Create, The Homegrown Preschooler and Up, Down, Move Around.

Established in 1971, IPG was the first organization specifically created for the purpose of marketing titles from independent presses to the book trade. With consistent growth each year, IPG’s success has come from supporting and encouraging the growth of its client publishers in the United States and worldwide. IPG has a wide reach in the market with its distribution of publishers with academic, Spanish-language, computer and general trade nonfiction and fiction titles. IPG was acquired by Chicago Review Press in 1987. Clients include publishers from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, Israel, Spain and other countries. In the fall of 2006, the senior management of Chicago Review Press, Inc., the parent company of IPG, bought Trafalgar Square Publishing, Inc., the leading U.S. distributor of UK publishers. Trafalgar Square Publishing was founded in 1973 and distributes for clients such as Allen and Unwin, Anova Books, Canongate UK, Headline, Hodder & Stoughton, Lion UK, Orion Publishing, Random House UK and Simon and Schuster UK.
