International IDEA

The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) is an intergovernmental organization that supports sustainable democracy worldwide. Our mission is to support sustainable democratic change through providing comparative knowledge, and assisting in democratic reform and influencing policies and politics.

International IDEA publishes handbooks and reports in the field of elections, constitution building, political parties, women’s political empowerment, democracy self-assessments, and democracy and development. Our books provide comparative knowledge, and experience from many different parts of the world on specific topics without prescribing solutions – true to the principle that the decision makers in a democracy are the citizens and their representatives.
