The Museum's Palaeontology Department has a staff of researchers and curators who care for over nine million specimens charting the evolution of life. They are also engaged in a variety of scientific research that focuses on the study of fossils through time, from answering key questions about evolution, to using the fossil record to understand the prehistoric environment and predict how modern organisms might respond to current climate change.
