Overview

Recognizing that the ability to communicate clearly and convincingly in written form is key to future success and opportunity, this educational manual offers both a theoretical and a methodological approach to the complex process of teaching writing. It argues that the development of good writing skills is a practice that must engage students on cognitive, metacognitive, language, social, and strategic levels, and offers methods for educators to improve their own writing skills, appreciating that it is only possible to teach well what has already been mastered. Though the data and case studies examined in the book are particular to Spain, the lessons and their far-reaching implications can be applied to any educational context.

Author Biography

José Luis Gallego Ortega is a professor at the University of Granada in Spain and a specialist in primary education, therapeutic teaching, and speech therapy. Antonio García Guzmán is a professor in the department of teaching and educational organization at the University of Granada who focuses on special education. Antonio Rodríguez Fuentes is a professor in the department of teaching and educational organization at the University of Granada. His field of specialty is special education and writing in students with special educational needs.
