Awa Press is an independent award-winning publisher that specialises in contemporary non-fiction. Since its founding in 2003 the company and its authors have won numerous awards and grants, from British Sports Book of the Year Award (Rugby) to Montana Book Award for Contemporary Culture, and Royal Society of New Zealand Science Book of the Year Prize. The company focuses on travel narrative and guides, popular science, sport, culture, essays and journalism, memoir, and eclectic series such as the Ginger Series, in which leading writers illuminate their private passions. How to Look at a Painting, one of the series’ many best-sellers, has been adapted for television in 12-parts and other titles are under option.
